But I bet you he's in there somewhere. If/when the rest of the colonial Louisiana stuff gets uploaded I am very convinced he will be found in there if he was in the Spanish military.
Yes, Joseph Sanchez is a common Spanish name. Thank you for thinking of him and searching. My gut feeling is that he was either in the Spanish navy or merchant seamen who jumped ship in New Orleans. Either one, if he is in the records, you will find him.
I didn't know about using screenshots in Google Translate. I've got to try it. Sadly, some of the handwritten stuff is so bad, I can only make out a few letters. I recommend the FamilySearch word lists.
