Researching my family history brought me here.. I’m still here in Houma my grandma still living says she remembers this man grave you can still see him when she was small walking to school .. on Woodlawn
Then they moved to Ashland plantation after.
Blows my mind to find out all this.. definitely a very interesting story here..
All my family is buried in Woodlawn and we all still go to the church here still.
That sounds like the same story as my family. I think they lived at Woodlawn and then later Ashland as well. Definitely neighbors and cousins. 🙂 I'm so glad you found my blog, thanks for reading!
Always happy to chat about any of it, I have been focusing on Terrebonne for a long time and at this point I'm interested in everybody in the area pretty much 😅 do you know what made them move to Ashland? I know it's not like it was far away but it's something I've been curious about

Well all my grandma told me was they had sold it to someone else and they tore the old house down and they all moved to Ashland.
None to much in detail
I’m going by my grandma later to ask. A lil more
I know she’s going be shocked when she sees it. Might shake a few of her memories back.
I come from the bulter and Jackson line those are my great grandparents then from them Watsons and Smith . Even some marylands..
My grandma name is Virginia and I her grandma name was Virginia smith so I’m thinking we have some tied there.
Most of us stayed here some family branch off moved to the westbank.
So I just left my grandma.
Not sure how long Ashland plantation been around but she said that Woodlawn was sold as she told me before
And they just all moved to ashland after.
And soon as I showed her the burial
She said that’s Mr.Cage!
She definitely remember from her younger days
I'm gonna send you a DM :-)
